Surprised by My Own Creativity
When was the last time you surprised yourself creatively?
Honestly, it’s been happening more often this year. I’ve been spending more time creating, and I think when you show up consistently, with curiosity and a willingness to experiment, growth becomes inevitable.
Every time I try something new and it actually turns out how I imagined, I’m surprised. Or when I sketch just for fun and it evolves into a full piece, I notice I’ve gained skill without even realizing it. Those little “level up” moments sneak up on me, and suddenly I’m like, “Whoa… I’m actually an artist.” LMAO.
I create to practice, to grow, but also just for the joy of it. I don’t pressure myself to be the best, just better than yesterday. And sometimes, all that quiet effort leads to a big leap, and I make something I didn’t think I could. Those are the moments that hit hardest.
It might sound silly, but it’s been a beautiful experience I’ve gotten to sit with more this year and I’m so grateful for it.
How about you? Have you surprised yourself creatively lately? What sparked that moment for you?
