Portrait Painting with Watercolor

My First Watercolor Workshop at BxArts Factory

This past Saturday, I taught my very first watercolor workshop as part of my Winter Residency at BxArts Factory, and I want to share both the heart behind it and the full tutorial for anyone who couldn’t attend (or wants a refresher).

I’ll be honest: I started the day nervous.

That quiet, fluttery kind of nervous. The kind that sits in your chest when you care deeply about something.

But that feeling quickly softened once Ruddy began the introduction. Standing there, being introduced, I felt grounded. Supported. Seen. The nerves didn’t disappear because I forced them to; they dissolved because I realized I wasn’t alone in the room.

This workshop was successful because of community. Because of you.

Your curiosity.
Your willingness to try.
Your trust in me to guide you through watercolor.

The familiar faces and the new ones truly brightened my heart. It was such a pleasure to see and meet all of you.

Once again, thank you to Ruddy and Liz for your guidance and grounding words. Thank you to my partner, Eric, for helping me set up, be part of the workshop, and clean up afterward. And thank you to BxArts Factory for allowing me to teach my first watercolor workshop. That means more than I can express.
