The Gun Hill Six at Bronx Art Space

Thursday night, I stopped by the opening reception of “Human Touch: The Gun Hill Six.” I pulled up a little early, so unfortunately, I didn’t get to stay long enough to catch the performances. But I know they had to be incredible, because the work covering those walls was already saying so much on its own.

Human Touch is a month-long exhibition by The Gun Hill Six, a collective of emerging Bronx artists, DAY, Estelle, Bobby, Kofi, Dezzy, and their newest member, Evolution, opening November 20th at Bronx Art Space. The show pushes back against the growing acceptance of A.I., grounding everything in real people, real stories, and real creation.

The opening reception (November 20, 5–8 PM) will feature the artists performing in front of their own work, including live painting, dance, drumming, and storytelling. Additional activations will take place at the closing on December 20th. This marks the first time the group’s work will be on display in a gallery for a full month, a shift from their usual DIY pop-up roots.

Formed in 2023 by Bobby Berardi and his former student Kofi, The Gun Hill Six has grown into a dynamic group of multi-disciplinary artists, each with their own powerful style and story. Together, they’re using Human Touch to remind people that creativity still has a place, and a voice, in a world rushing toward technology.

Each artist had their own voice, their own style, their own meaning. I love a group show where everyone stands strong on their own, yet the work still comes together in this beautiful way that lifts the whole room. The artists in this show are so inspiring, and I’m genuinely glad I got to be there and take it all in.

I highly recommend visiting the exhibition yourself and showing love to the artists by checking out their links.
