Materials

I want to share the materials I used to paint the recent portraits.

My choice for these materials was to keep things simple. I wanted to pick up and paint without overthinking it. For me, the process is to make the task/action as easy as possible to keep up with the practice.

Here are all the materials I use:
Note: All materials will be linked.

I'm currently using Strathmore Mixed Media vellum surface. There’s no purpose for this; I’m just trying to use up my materials before purchasing anything new. I’m an art supply hoarder. (Trying to be better about that)

One of my favorite erasers is the Mono Zero Eraser Stick, used for cleaning up details.

What I use to outline the pieces: Prismacolor pencil

These are my go-to brushes because it is affordable and has a nice feel. Princeton Velvet Touch Brushes

My favorite paints of all time has to be Holbein Acryla Gouache. These babies are an investment. I worked in art stores, saved, and used my discount to collect these. I can make a whole blog about this.

Now, these are my new favorites: Winsor & Newton designer gouache.

Second photo:

I used the takeout carton as a palette for Holbein Acryla Gouache. Like acrylic, this paint dries out quickly, so keeping it in a moist container helps it last longer.

Spray bottle to keep the paint moist.

Paper Towels

SugarHouse Ceramics Palette for the gouache paints.

I hope this little post helped you. Please ask me questions about any of the materials listed here.
Let me know if you would like me to go into depth of each one.
